In the context of globalization and the knowledge economy, collaborative innovation has become a key path for enterprises to accelerate new product development and enhance competitiveness. Existing research mostly focuses on the value creation aspect of collaborative innovation, while the question of how enterprises should choose collaborative innovation models to ensure the value capture of innovative achievements remains to be explored. This paper examines the multiple impact paths of the breadth and depth of collaborative innovation on enterprise value exclusivity. Empirical analysis reveals that both the breadth and depth of collaborative innovation have a significant negative impact on primary exclusivity and a significant positive effect on secondary exclusivity. When the enterprise's knowledge base is large, the negative impact of collaborative innovation on primary exclusivity is weakened, but the positive effect of collaborative innovation on secondary exclusivity is suppressed; when the knowledge base is broad, the promoting effect of collaborative innovation on secondary exclusivity is enhanced. This study provides theoretical support for enterprises to choose appropriate collaborative innovation models, helping to better balance the tension between value creation and value capture.
